I'll be taking the year of 2011 (maybe longer) to travel the world, teach physics in Korea, and connect within and with people and nature on this planet. Last night I bought plane tickets to Costa Rica, Fiji, and New Zealand. So it now feels official. I'll start on the first of the year, and be in Korea mid-February. It's a frenzy getting ready, and there is so much to do here in Boulder before leaving! I am wrapping up my course, Physics for Future Presidents, and my research project. I leave Boulder December 23. I want to make every minute count!
You can view some of my nerdy spreadsheets here:
A list of the items that I will bring with
I'll be teaching undergraduates and maybe a graduate seminar in ultrafast optics at Yeungnam University in Daegu (It's in southeast Korea). After Korea, things are up in the air. But my hope is that I'll be going west from there...
Interesting! This is my first time at posting a comment on a blog. My wife, who has her own blog (fivescribes.blogspot.com), had to provide me with some basic instruction on posting.
ReplyDeleteIn any event, I'm looking forward to hearing how Ryan's trek progresses. But first, we have to get through the remainder of the semester.

How odd that you'll follow up your NZ/Fiji trip (I'm on my own from Dec 17 until Jan 14) with Korea. That's where I'm headed in February, haha.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I'm looking at being in Busan and I'll be teaching English. Korea's a fantastic country. You're in for a real treat.
